Agenda Item: VI.C.

Consider/Approve Requests Declare Property Surplus and Dispose Via Most Economical Method

Background Information:

Hillcrest Elementary School requests the Obion County Board of Education to declare surplus old cheerleading uniforms. In accordance with TCA §49-6-2007 (d)(1), school officials have determined that these uniforms have a value less than $250.00 or are of no value. TCA §49-6-2007(d)(1) provides, “Surplus personal property in local school systems which has no value or has a value less than two hundred fifty dollars ($250), may be disposed of without the necessity of bids….” Furthermore, Hillcrest Elementary requests permission to sell these uniforms and deposit the funds raised into the school’s athletic account to help offset expenses that will be incurred by future cheerleading squads. Therefore, pending Board approval, no bids will be solicited to dispose of this personal property.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend the Board declare the above-noted uniforms as surplus and approve the disposition via the most economical method as described above.
